I spent two weeks in Juneau, Alaska this past summer as an artist-in-residence at an Alaska State Park. My cabin which was the summer home of the first govenor of Alaska, Ernest Gruening, looked out over a cove. The vistas were maginficent. 'Purse Seiners on Amalga Cove' is one depiction of the view. Juneau is a glacial rainforest and most days were overcast. You quickly get used to the soft light and serene greys. Then, when the sun comes out, it is almost blinding and the colors and light are incredible. Several more paintings in the works in my studio!
